Former Marist Brothers High School student Roland Williams has progressed in The Voice Australia, after singing his way to victory against Jaydin Shingleton in The Battles stage of the singing competition.
The song chosen for them by their coach Guy Sebastian was US singer Teddy Swims’ hit tune ‘Lose Control’.
Speaking to Williams and Shingleton via a video message, Swims said he was “absolutely honoured and thrilled”” to hear what the duo would do with his song.
After going head-to-head with the tune, Guy Sebastian there was one singer who was a little bit more at home and that artist was Roland Willams.
Williams burst onto the Fiji music scene in 2007 as a member of Suva-based band One2Eight.
He emigrated to New Zealand and in 2009 won Maori Television’s hit singing show, Homai Te Pakipaki with his rendition of US singer Billy Paul’s 1972 hit, ‘Me And Mrs Jones.’
