Former Socceroo Luke Wilkshire will be the chief guest at the Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night. The awards night will be held on 1 December at the Crowne Plaza in Nadi.
Fiji Football Association Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Yusuf expressed his excitement about Wilkshire’s participation, calling it an honour to have a FIFA Legend at the event.
Wilkshire’s international career and contributions to Australian football’s expected to inspire Fiji’s football community.
During his visit, he will attend the Flick Hygiene Pacific Cup matches at Churchill Park in Lautoka and visit the Fiji Ba Academy.
His presence is expected to leave a lasting impact on football enthusiasts and aspiring players.
The Fiji FA Awards Night, returning after a three-year hiatus, will celebrate Fiji football’s best, with 16 awards recognizing players, teams, officials, and contributors.
Wilkshire’s playing career included stints at Middlesbrough, Bristol City, FC Twente, Dinamo Moscow, Feyenoord and Sydney FC, where he won the A-League title in 2017–2018.
He earned 80 caps for the Socceroos, scoring 8 goals, and represented Australia in two FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010), the 2015 AFC Asian Cup-winning team and the 2004 Athens Olympics.
After retiring, Wilkshire transitioned into coaching and continues to be a respected figure in Australian football, known for his passing, tactical intelligence and leadership.
