The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Logistic Support Unit (LSU) Commanding Officer (CO) Parade was held yesterday (25 November, 2024) at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) Drill Square in Nabua.
The Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt-Col) Tevita Biudole, expressed his appreciation to the members of his battalion for the great turnout. He extended his gratitude to his troops for their steadfast support to his command, as well as for their commitment to performing their duties and fulfilling their tasks with diligence and professionalism.
Lt-Col Biudole emphasised two key principles to his troops during the parade: the importance of understanding their purpose and the value of trust.
“When you know your purpose, you will be able to value yourself as an individual, why you are here, and the huge dependence and trust that the RFMF expects of you to carry out your responsibilities,” Lt-Col Biudole said.
“I trust you to play your part in this organization; I trust you to be competent and caring; and I want you to trust in your individual abilities; you are an asset to this battalion and the RFMF.”
Lt-Col Biudole also highlighted the rich history of the LSU and emphasised the importance of maintaining the highest standards of excellence within the unit at all times.
“The origin of Fiji Army Logistics dates back to when the Fiji Labour participated in the Western Front in 1917–1818 during World War One. Fiji Logistic Company was the last Fijian unit to return from the Solomon Islands in 1945. We must hold LSU, our unit, to a higher standing at all times; we are the only logistic battalion of the RFMF,” Lt-Col Biudole added.
In his closing remarks, Lt-Col Biudole delivered an inspiring message to the troops, emphasising the critical role of logistics in military operations. He quoted the wisdom of the renowned strategist Sun Tzu: “The line between order and disorder lies in logistics. Logisticians never dwell in the limelight, but without us, there will be no limelight.”
