The Fiji Police Force officially opened its Blue Light Camp yesterday at Lautoka Delana Primary School, marking the start of a week-long youth development initiative involving students from across the Rakiraki to Lautoka corridor.
The opening ceremony was led by Divisional Police Commander West, Senior Superintendent of Police Iakobo Vaisewa, who encouraged participating students to take full advantage of the opportunity to develop life skills and leadership qualities.
This year’s program brings together facilitators from New Zealand Blue Light and the Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding, offering a range of workshops focused on personal growth, civic responsibility, and community engagement.
SSP Vaisewa emphasised the importance of such initiatives in strengthening the relationship between police and young people, noting that building mutual trust is key to securing a safer future.
The Blue Light initiative is designed to help youth realise their potential and understand how they can positively influence their communities.
