Seven community-based organisations across Fiji have received financial assistance through the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry’s Multi-Ethnic Grant Program, aimed at improving essential services and promoting social cohesion.
Six groups from the Central Division and one from the Eastern Division were awarded a total of $228,275 for initiatives such as solar electrification, learning and development support, shed material provision, and the upgrade of Levuka Cemetery.
Minister Hon. Charan Jeath Singh said the program reflects the Coalition Government’s commitment to empowering grassroots communities while fostering unity among Fiji’s diverse ethnic groups.
“Our support has enabled local organisations to improve access to vital resources, while also strengthening collaboration among community members working towards common goals,” Singh said.
The Minister also highlighted the transparent process of the grant’s distribution and urged unsuccessful applicants to reapply in the next round after August.
“These are public funds, and accountability is essential. The Ministry will continue monitoring all projects to ensure grants are used responsibly for the intended purposes,” he added.
This latest round follows an earlier disbursement of $1.48 million under the same program.
