Four men are set to appear at the Labasa Magistrates Court on Monday, 16th June 2025, charged in connection with a series of yaqona thefts reported across the Northern Division.
The accused include two 18-year-olds, with the other two aged in their 20s and 30s. Their arrests followed investigations by a special taskforce established to address multiple complaints of yaqona theft in the region.
Police allege the group was involved in four theft cases reported from Viriqilai, Korotari, and the Labasa Market area. Each of the four has been jointly charged with theft.
Authorities also confirmed that the suspects are being linked to similar cases in Nabouwalu and Savusavu, with further investigations underway.
