Head Coach of the Vodafone Fiji Bati, Mick Potter remains hopeful the Fainu brothers will be available for this year’s Rugby League World Cup, saying their inclusion would be a major boost for the side.

The Wests Tigers trio, who qualify to represent Fiji through their grandmother, are still awaiting clearance from their NRL club before they can join the national squad.

“It’s still a possibility. I’m still optimistic about it, but it’s getting close. It’s 77 days. It seems like it’s a long time away, but we need to go pretty soon.”

Potter says securing the services of the talented brothers would significantly strengthen the Bati, with all three bringing valuable NRL experience and quality to the team.

“I’m looking forward to it. If they’re on board, if they do get the green light, they’re going to be great assets for us. There’s three of them, it’s not just one person. It’s really a very solid house squad.”
