The curtain has fallen on the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with the Closing Ceremony at Glasgow’s iconic Hydro arena bringing 11 days of sporting competition to a memorable end.

The event celebrated the achievements of athletes from across the Commonwealth while also recognizing the contributions of volunteers who helped make the Games possible. Community groups and cultural organisations took centre stage, showcasing Glasgow’s culture and spirit for one final time.

A key moment of the ceremony was the official handover to Amdavad, India, which will host the 24th Commonwealth Games in 2030.

Glasgow 2026 Chief Marketing and Ceremonies Officer Louisa Mahon said the event was designed to celebrate the connections made throughout the Games.

“The Closing Ceremony is all about connection. It’s going to be emotional,” Mahon said.

“It’s the moment that we celebrate and say thank you to athletes from across the Commonwealth and to the people of Glasgow who got behind the Games. It’s a time for reflection, but it’s also a huge afters, a time to party, in a way that only Glasgow does.”

The ceremony provided a fitting farewell to Glasgow 2026, blending celebration, gratitude and anticipation for the next chapter of the Commonwealth Games in Amdavad in 2030.
