Students at Ratu Kadavulevu School in Tailevu are benefiting from a successful harvest from the school’s crop farm, with fresh vegetables now being supplied to the school kitchen.

The harvest produced 115.05 kilograms of pumpkin, Chinese cabbage and bele, which will be used in meals prepared for students.

The farm was developed following land preparation and drainage work carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture, Waterways and Sugar Industry through its Land Resources, Planning and Development Division and Crop Extension Division in July 2026.

Ministry officers also provided technical advice and farm guidance to support the school’s crop production.

The farm now serves as a practical learning area for Vocational and Form 3 and 4 students, who take part in various farming activities.

Students are also involved in planting and raising vegetable seedlings in the school nursery, helping build their practical agricultural skills.

The harvest highlights the role of school farming in supporting food security, practical education and healthier meals for students. The RKS Farm Manager also acknowledged the Ministry’s support and its benefits to the school community.
