The HSBC SVNS 3 tournament will return to Dubai on the 27th to the 28th of November, 2026, offering international men’s and women’s teams an opportunity to advance to the next level of rugby sevens.
The tournament will be held alongside the opening round of the HSBC SVNS Series 2027 at The Sevens Stadium, with six men’s and six women’s teams competing for promotion to HSBC SVNS 2.
The top two teams in both the men’s and women’s competitions will earn promotion, with HSBC SVNS 2 scheduled to take place across three rounds in Nairobi, São Paulo and Montevideo in early 2027.
World Rugby Sevens World Series General Manager Sam Pinder says the tournament is an important step in creating more opportunities for nations to compete on the international stage.
Pinder says having HSBC SVNS 3 alongside the elite series will showcase the depth of talent in the sport, with promotion to HSBC SVNS 2 providing an added incentive for the competing teams.
Teams already qualified for the men’s competition include Hong Kong China, Canada, Italy, Chile, Zimbabwe and Samoa, while China, Mexico, Poland, Colombia and Samoa have secured places in the women’s tournament.
The remaining teams will be confirmed following the conclusion of regional qualification competitions.
The tournament also marks the beginning of the qualification pathway towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, providing nations with an opportunity to progress through World Rugby’s international sevens structure.
Meanwhile, the HSBC SVNS Series 2027 will continue through Cape Town, Singapore, Perth, Vancouver and New York before the HSBC SVNS World Championship takes place in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux in April and May next year.
