More than 8,000 plants believed to be marijuana have been uprooted from two farms in the Lea farming area following a joint operation by the Northern Division Taskforce.

The operation, supported by officers from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, involved officers trekking through the challenging farming terrain, where the two farms were discovered earlier this week.

Meanwhile, police drug operations have also resulted in the seizure of substances believed to be methamphetamine in Laucala Beach.

A team from the Police Dog Unit raided the home of a 39-year-old man, where several ziplock bags containing white substances believed to be methamphetamine were seized.

Cash suspected to be proceeds of crime was also confiscated during the raid.

The Fiji Police Force says drug operations are continuing across all five policing divisions, with arrests being made for unlawful possession of illicit drugs and related offences, including proceeds of crime.

Members of the public are encouraged to report drug-related activities or provide information by calling 1681.
