Twenty officers from the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces have completed a five-week Investigators Qualifying Course (Level II), strengthening their capacity to investigate serious and complex crimes.
The graduating class comprises 18 Fiji Police officers and two RFMF investigators who underwent specialised training at the Fiji Police Academy.
Closing the course, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Internal Affairs and Professional Standards, Viliame Sovalevu, stressed that the quality of criminal investigations is fundamental to the administration of justice and maintaining public confidence in law enforcement agencies.
The course focused on strengthening investigators’ ability to manage serious cases through professional, lawful and effective investigative practices.
Training covered five key areas: service delivery, case management, crime scene management, investigative interviewing and suspect management.
The practical, participant-centred programme was designed to equip Criminal Investigation Department officers with the knowledge, skills and investigative mindset needed to handle complex investigations within Fiji’s policing environment.
