Acting COMPOL briefed on progress of NZ-Fiji Police Partnership

Progress of the New Zealand Government supported Fiji Police Partnership Programme was briefed to Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew. 

The partnership focuses on Training, Leadership, Dog Patrol and Investigation. 

Significant achievements include drug detections and arrests by the Fiji Detector Dog Unit. Capacity building includes training K9 handlers and providing K9s. 

Progress was made in developing investigative capabilities and expanding Video Recorded Interview rooms. 

The NZ Police team included Inspector Dave Rose, Senior Advisor Mark Pakes, Senior Advisor Michele Gillespie and Second Secretary Jonathan Martin. 

Fong Chew stressed the importance of partnerships for sustainable results.
