Australia commits to supporting Fiji Olympic Athletes

Australia has committed to supporting over 50 Fiji Olympic athletes in the upcoming Olympic Games, as part of the Vuvale Partnership.

Making the announcement today, Australia’s Minister for International Development, Pacific and Defence Industry Pat Conray highlighted that this gesture deepens Australia’s dedication to fostering athletic excellence and strengthening ties with its Pacific neighbour.

“From established sports like rugby, sailing, taekwondo, and archery, Fiji truly does punch above its weight, and I wish you the best in the upcoming Olympic Games,” remarked Minister Conroy, acknowledging Fiji’s remarkable sporting prowess.”

Acknowledging Australia for its continuous support, Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru emphasized that the profound bilateral relationship between the two nations is underpinned by the Vuvale Partnership.

“Australia and Fiji have teamed up for a new sports partnership that has captured the hearts of our two countries.

“Sport, as you know, is a powerful tool for development pathways,” noted Minister Saukuru.

Minister Conroy also participated in a team-building activity with students of Namaka Public School, further cementing the bond between Australia and Fiji at the grassroots level.
