United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken highlighted how USA-Fiji ties have contributed to freedom, prosperity and security in the Pacific in his Fiji Independence Day message.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I offer my best wishes to the people of Fiji as you celebrate 54 years of independence this October 10,” he said.
“Since establishing bilateral ties, Fiji and the United States have partnered to create a more free, secure, and prosperous Pacific.
“Our decades-long friendship has been beneficial in our shared effort to address the climate crisis, combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, manage regional security concerns, and advance economic development.
“The recent signing of the United States-Fiji Open Skies Air Transport Agreement was another significant step forward in enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth between our nations.
“The United States looks forward to continuing this positive momentum, strengthening our partnership to ensure a brighter future for our two countries.
“Please accept my best wishes on this special day.”
