In Fiji:
Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, and Tui Nayau, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, have been elected as Deputy Chairs of the Great Council of Chiefs.
GCC Chair Ratu Viliame Seruvakula highlighted that, since the Kubuna Confederacy currently holds the Chairmanship, the Deputy positions had to be filled by representatives from the other two confederacies.
Seruvakula said there is much work to be done, and he has struggled to attend to the many invitations and responsibilities that come with the role.
He added that having the two new Deputies would take a significant load off his shoulders.
Seruvakula also stated that this will make the work easier for him, as he resides in New Zealand.
