Following months of pursuing leads in relation to a case of burglary in Bau Street in Suva,investigators have managed to charge and produce the accused in court.
The incident was recorded and became viral on social media.
On 18 March, a report was received from a family living in Bau Street, after they woke up to find they had become victims of an alleged burglary, where a significant number of their belongings were stolen.
Through the gathering of information by the Criminal Investigations Department, operations and Intelligence teams, a raid was conducted at the accused’s home in Saivou in Ra where they arrested the 34-year-old alleged to have been involved.
He was charged with one count of burglary and one count of theft and produced at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.
The joint investigation team managed to also secure recoveries of items alleged to have been stolen worth approximately $1,500.
He was remanded to the custody of Totogo Police, due to other pending investigations alleging his involvement.
