The long-awaited endeavor to repair and enhance Niue’s road infrastructure has officially commenced, with a team of engineers from China mobilizing to undertake the vital task.
Niue’s government has been diligently pursuing road repairs since the nation’s fortieth anniversary in 2014, and as the island nation approaches its fiftieth milestone, significant progress is underway.
Finance Minister Crossley Tatui revealed that China has generously allocated a grant of NZD$18 million to facilitate the extensive road works, underscoring the depth of collaboration between the two nations.
In conjunction with China’s contribution, Niue has pledged NZD$5 million towards the project, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving essential infrastructure for the benefit of its citizens.
