COC makes recommendation to the President for key appointments

The Chair of the Constitutional Offices Commission (‘Commission’) held a meeting this afternoon at the Suvavou House.

In its meeting, the Commission has decided to advise the President regarding the appointments to the position of Supervisor of Elections, Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service, and the Auditor-General.

Further, the Commission, having been advised by an independent committee pursuant to section 136(1) of the Constitution, has endorsed to advise the President on the appropriate remuneration and allowances of the mentioned officers. 

This advice will be forwarded shortly to the President. 

In addition, the Commission also addressed procedural matters, including the adoption of draft Standard Operating Procedures as a live document.

The Commission’s meeting today signifies its continued commitment to ensuring transparent and efficient processes in fulfilling its responsibilities.
