We are proud to operate what is now the most high-tech, advanced, and safe bottled water factory in the world.

Craig Cooper FIJI Water General Counsel & Executive Vice President said this during the commissioning of the Yaqara facility’s $140 million expansion project yesterday which included two state-of-the-art high-speed production lines.

“These new bottling lines will ensure the business continues to thrive for many years to come,” he said.

“We are proud to support Fiji and its economy, and we are grateful to the hundreds of people working at the FIJI Water plant, as well as NPDL, their families, and our wider community.”

Mr Cooper said the project incorporates technologies designed to reduce the facility’s environmental footprint while meeting the growing global demand for FIJI Water.

He said the new production lines would increase production capacity by 47%, achieve a 10% increase in energy efficiency, require 10% less cardboard in product packaging, and ensure FIJI Water’s continued growth and sustained workforce development.

Mr Cooper said over the past 15 years, FIJI Water has streamlined its value-added operations in Fiji and has invested over FJ$300 million in various operational upgrades.

While most island nations rely on tourism or the export of raw materials, FIJI Water imports exclusively raw materials for manufacturing. In 2016, FIJI Water installed a new bottling line, and by 2023, it transitioned 67% of its bottles to recycled plastic (rPET).

The $140 expansion was commissioned by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
