The Ministry of Education, has announced the reintroduction of interviews for Year 13 students aspiring to pursue teaching careers.
This initiative, in collaboration with Teacher Training Institutions (TTIs), the Fiji Teacher’s Registration Authority (FTRA), Higher Education Commission Fiji (HECF), and Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS), aims to enhance the quality of teacher recruitment and training across Fiji.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro emphasized the importance of rigorous selection processes to attract candidates who are both passionate and qualified for the teaching profession.
This initiative stems from the 2024-2033 Denarau Declaration, which strengthens partnerships between stakeholders, and the Ministry of Education.
The declaration aims to ensure that graduates are well-prepared with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to excel in classrooms nationwide.
Eligible students can apply for scholarships under the Merit-Based Higher Education (Level 7 Local Scheme) and the Minimum Cut-Off Mark Scheme, covering various Bachelor of Education programmes and specialized fields like Early Childhood Education, Counselling, and Industrial Arts.
The deadline for online applications to TSLS is 31st January 2025, with successful candidates to be notified of interview dates and venues via email and phone calls.
