The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Bernard as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective Monday, 11 November. Edward brings with him a wealth of experience with over 28 years of experience working for the United Nations, the Fiji Government, Academia and Private Sector making him an ideal choice to lead FCEF into its next chapter.

In his previous role, Edward spent 15 years with International Labour Organization (ILO) in planning, implementing, monitoring, reporting and coordinating national and regional programs and projects engaging in policy dialogue with national tripartite partners, managing teams and large budgets.

This included working with national and regional private sector employers and organizations. He is a graduate from the University of the South Pacific (USP) with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).

“FCEF is at a pivotal point in its journey, and we are thrilled to welcome Edward as our new CEO,” said FCEF President, Vinay Narsey. “His deep understanding of collaborating with our strategic partners and stakeholders as well as his specialisation and experience in private sector development will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for the interests of businesses and employers across Fiji.”

Edward expressed his excitement about the new role, stating, “I am honoured to take on this leadership position at FCEF. I look forward to working closely with our members, partners, the board and secretariat to drive positive change, enhance the business environment and contribute to economic growth in Fiji.”

In his new role, Edward will focus on strengthening FCEF’s advocacy efforts, expanding membership and member services, and promoting best practices within the business community. He aims to foster a collaborative environment, including with our tripartite partners, where businesses can thrive and contribute to the sustainable development of Fiji.
