The need for businesses to take greater responsibility for the environment and communities has been highlighted by FHL Group Chief Executive Officer Jiaoji Koroi following a clean-up campaign along the Suva Foreshore this morning.

Koroi said the initiative was more than a team-building activity, with employees and their families coming together to contribute to the community and environment.

He said businesses have a responsibility to look beyond their own operations and recognise their role in society.

Koroi also highlighted the importance of bringing employees from the group’s various subsidiary companies together, noting that FHL Group has close to 2,000 employees across its operations.

He said today’s clean-up provided an opportunity for staff to strengthen relationships and understand that they are part of a much larger FHL Group family.

Koroi said the group plans to hold more activities that bring employees together in the months ahead, including as it approaches its annual general meeting and the end of the year.

He also acknowledged the support families provide to employees, saying their contribution is sometimes overlooked.

The clean-up campaign brought together staff from FHL, BIL Group, FHLP, FHUT, MFL, Fiji TV and RB Patel, with the campaign running from Suva Point to Albert Park.
