A fifth person has been charged in connection with the unlawful importation of over four kilograms of methamphetamine intercepted during a recent joint operation by the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
The 43-year-old suspect is alleged to have conspired with four other individuals previously charged over the same case. Authorities believe the group worked together to smuggle the illicit drugs from a Southeast African country into Fiji.
He has been charged with one count of Unlawful Importation of Illicit Drugs, under Section 5(b) of the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004. The accused is expected to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
The investigation remains ongoing as enforcement agencies continue to target transnational drug trafficking activities.
