Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) took center stage at the STEP UP Oceania conference, where it showcased its pioneering efforts in talent identification and development alongside counterparts from Palau National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Sport.

The session, titled “Pasifika Case Studies Championing National Action,” offered a glimpse into Fiji FA’s innovative strategies aimed at nurturing football talent across the nation.

Timo Jankowski, the General Manager Technical, and Anushil Kumar, the General Manager Operations, were instrumental in presenting Fiji FA’s comprehensive initiatives spanning the last 2.5 years.

Their focus was on providing opportunities for young talents to flourish within Fiji’s cultural context.

Jankowski underscored Fiji FA’s core principle that every talent in Fiji deserves the chance to thrive, as evidenced by initiatives like “Totolo Futupolo.”

This approach tailors talent development strategies to align with Fiji’s unique cultural landscape.

Kumar delved into the practical implementation of Fiji FA’s talent development strategy, offering valuable insights into the organization’s operational framework.

The presentation featured real-life examples from Fiji’s football scene, illustrating how Fiji FA’s strategy has been seamlessly integrated into programs such as the McDonald’s League and FIFA Football for Schools.

Jankowski highlighted success stories of players hailing from remote areas who have gone on to represent Fiji internationally, showcasing the tangible impact of Fiji FA’s initiatives.
