Chris Cocker, Chief Executive Officer of the South Pacific Tourism Organisation, has acknowledged Fiji for its exceptional performance in tourism arrivals, positioning the nation at the forefront of the Pacific.

Being the first country in Oceania to reopen post-pandemic, Fiji has witnessed a remarkable surge in tourist numbers over the past months.

According to Cocker, Fiji’s pioneering efforts have not gone unnoticed, with French Polynesia closely following as the second most popular destination for travelers, trailed by New Caledonia and Cook Islands.

The competitive landscape in the tourism industry across the region is palpable, reflecting the heightened demand for Pacific getaways.

Akuila Batiweti, Chief Marketing and Customer Officer for Fiji Airways, emphasized the significant shifts in market dynamics.

With evolving tourist preferences, Fiji Airways aims to enhance regional connectivity, in order to recognise the diverse demands of travellers within the Pacific region.
