In a proactive move against the illicit drug trade, the Fiji Police Force has joined forces with traditional leaders in the Northern Division. The collaboration aims to address the growing concerns surrounding drug use and its associated dangers within local communities.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of traditional leadership, the Divisional Police Commander North (DPC/N), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kemueli Baledrokadroka, along with senior police officials, recently engaged with Turaga na Tui Wailevu, Ratu Joseva Maivalili, and Turaga na Tui Nadogo, Ratu Ilisaniti Malodali.

During the courtesy visit, assurances were given regarding the police force’s unwavering commitment to working hand in hand with community leaders to combat drug-related issues.

The initiative follows calls from the traditional leaders for increased collaboration with stakeholders to address the escalating challenges posed by illicit drug activities. SSP Baledrokadroka emphasized the importance of community policing in fostering partnerships and facilitating dialogues among various stakeholders to tackle these pressing concerns effectively.

This proactive approach underscores the Fiji Police Force’s dedication to fostering a safer and healthier environment for all citizens, underscoring the significance of collective action in addressing complex societal issues.
