Fiji’s Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, led the country’s delegation today in a mock session at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, in preparation for their upcoming presentation to the CEDAW Committee.
The mock session, a crucial step in defending Fiji’s 6th State Report, provided valuable insights into the process and strengthened the delegation’s readiness for the upcoming Pacific Technical Cooperation Session at the United Nations next week.
Kiran expressed her appreciation for the support of The Pacific Community (SPC), the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS), UN Women, and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNOCHR), praising the mock session for its empowering role in preparing the team.
“This session has been incredibly beneficial, offering us a clearer understanding of the process and reinforcing our team’s commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s rights,” she said.
Fiji’s delegation will present its report next week, aiming to showcase the nation’s ongoing efforts to uphold the rights of women and children.
