The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a flash flood alert for flood prone areas, adjacent to small stream and low lying crossings in Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Levuka and southern and eastern parts of Viti Levu.
The weatherman says notable rainfall has been recorded over most parts of the country in the past 24hrs and with increased soil saturation, the anticipated heavy rain in these areas will increase the risk of flash flooding.
Situation: a trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the the country. Associated cloud and rain is expected to affect the group over the next few days.
The Fiji Met Service says high tide in Lautoka is expected at 11.04pm and in Suva at 11.15pm.
The next special weather bulletin will be issue at 6pm or earlier if the situation changes.
