Fiji Rugby Union has announced the appointment of B-J Mather as the new General Manager of High Performance Unit.

He will be taking over from Simon Raiwalui, who resigned before taking up the Flying Fijians coaching job.

B-J comes with a professional Doctorate and MBA and has over 20 years of applied HP leadership experience in managing elite rugby and other Olympic sport programs in both England and Australia.

In his new role, B-J will lead the overall HP Program with the aim of delivering sustainable international success for Fiji’s four national teams. He will also focus on building capability, capacity, and development of Fijian HP coaches, managers, and other key support staff.

The FRFUTB has also appointed Alana Thomas as HPM, Women’s Rugby.

Alana has a wealth of experience, having served as a former player, coach, manager, and business accountant. She will oversee and manage the Women’s Fijiana XVs and 7s programs.

Bill Gadolo, former Flying Fijian and current FRFUTB National Teams Manager, has been promoted to the role of Elite Pathways and Performance Manager.

In this elevated role, he will oversee all pathway, age-group, and talent identification and development programs across the women’s and men’s XVs and 7s games.

Bill will also take on the responsibility of elite coach development and managing the performance services across the national teams and HP Unit.

Interim Chairman of FRU Peter Mazey has expressed his confidence in the expertise of the three appointees.
He believes that Fiji Rugby will immensely benefit from their experience and guidance in the next World Cup cycle prior to the 2027 World Cup in Australia.

B-J, Alana, and Bill will commence in their respective roles over the coming months.
