The Water Authority of Fiji welcomes the 3.5 percent increase allocated to improve Fiji’s water supply and wastewater infrastructure in the 2024-2025 National Budget, compared to current year.

WAF Chairman, Savenaca Seniloli says this budget will allow WAF to continue its good work in improving water and sanitation service

delivery.

Seniloli says he notes that the Government is supportive of the need to corporatise the Water Authority of Fiji. He says he along with the Board of Directors look forward to working with the Government in establishing a financially viable and autonomous WAF.

The Chairman says Government is focused on getting this right, so that our future water and wastewater needs are secured, and that investors, businesses, rural communities and homeowners are assured that this basic need is consistently and efficiently met.

He added that it is good to see that many of WAF’s current projects aimed at improving water and wastewater services to Fijians have received continued funding allocation.

In the 2024-2025 Budget, a sum of $259.4 million is allocated to WAF. $123.6 million is for an operating grant and $135.8 million for capital grant to improve the nation’s water distribution network and wastewater management systems.

WAF’s service footprint covers some 801,000 Fijians nationwide, with 160,262 water and

33,587 active wastewater connections.
