Heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji

An active trough of low pressure lies slowly moving over the Fiji group.

Associated clouds and rain bands continue to affect the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:

Periods of rain, heavy at times, and few thunderstorms over Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, northern Ba and Ra, greater Nadi/Lautoka/Ba area, Sigatoka, interior Ba and Nadroga Navosa, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller island, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere. Isolated heavy falls are expected.

Showers increase to rain and become frequent and heavy at night. Rain easing to showers over Viti Levu, Kadavu, Yasawa, and Mamanuca groups from later today.

Localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Moderate to fresh northwest winds, gusty at times.

Winds becoming southeast over the southern and western parts of Fiji mid-day today. Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Wednesday: Rain easing to showers over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. Some showers over the greater Suva/Nausori-Tailevu. Afternoon showers elsewhere.
