In a significant step towards enhancing the educational experience, PM Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka today unveiled the Infrastructure Assessment Report for schools in the Suva-Nausori region.

The report outlines a strategic plan for upgrading school facilities, aiming to provide students with improved learning environments.

The assessment covers 86 schools within the Suva-Nausori corridor, identifying critical areas that require attention.

Issues such as overcrowded classrooms, outdated sanitation facilities, and the need for improved disaster resilience are highlighted in the report.

With funding from the Australian Government through its Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), upgrades will begin with Suva Primary School.

Forty-one schools will benefit from enhanced water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities, promoting safer environments for students.

Additionally, building renovations will focus on disaster resilience, including stronger structures designed to withstand natural disasters.

The upgrades will also ensure greater accessibility, with newly designed schools featuring ramps and accessible restrooms for students with disabilities.

Sustainable solutions, including termite-resistant materials and solar energy systems, will be incorporated into the renovations, ensuring long-lasting benefits for the community.

Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the educational infrastructure in Fiji, with the support of local communities, AusAid, and private sector partners.

These improvements will ensure that students have access to safe, modern, and inclusive learning spaces.
