We cannot afford complacency in the war against drugs, our children’s lives and their future should be paramount.

Nasinu Town Council Special Administrator chairman Felix Magnus said this as he issued a fervent plea to law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in eradicating the drug epidemic in the country.

The council also called on citizens to report any suspicious drug-related activity to the authorities.

Mr Magnus said with drug-related incidents on the rise, the council was calling for proactive collaboration among residents, law enforcement, and community leaders.

“We cannot afford to be passive spectators in the face of such a grave threat to our society”, he said.

Mr Magnus said the Council was calling upon all residents to play an active role in combating the drug trade by promptly reporting any suspicious activities or individuals engaged in drug peddling within their vicinity.

He said collective vigilance was paramount in curbing the spread of narcotics and protecting the well-being of communities.

Mr Magnus also called on religious leaders to utilise their platforms to address the scourge of drugs.

“Our churches serve as beacons of hope and moral fortitude, and we urge our esteemed clergy to champion the cause against drug abuse from their pulpits”.
