A man in his 40s has died in a tragic road accident, believed to be Fiji’s latest road fatality.
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon along Waisali Hill in Savusavu, where the victim had been cutting grass with a group of five others.
He was allegedly struck by a logging truck, driven by a man in his 60s, who is believed to have lost control of the vehicle.
The truck reportedly veered off the road, hitting the victim and causing serious injuries. A second man was also injured in the accident.
Both the driver and the second victim are currently admitted at Savusavu Hospital as police investigations continue.
The national road death toll now stands at 29, an increase from 26 during the same period last year.
