A man is expected to appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today following his arrest in connection with alleged involvement in the illicit drug trade.
According to police, the accused was intercepted by a joint task force involving officers from the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (South/Central), the Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and the Police K9 Unit on Monday, April 21, 2025, along Reservoir Road.
Following the interception, a search was conducted at a residence where the accused had been staying. Authorities say several large plastic bags containing dried leaves – later confirmed to be marijuana- were discovered and seized at the location.
The man has been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs.
Police continue to crack down on drug-related offences as part of ongoing efforts to curb organised crime in the country.
