Fiji’s national minimum wage will increase from $4.50 to $5.00 per hour starting 1 April 2025, as part of a phased approach to improving wages across the country.
The first wage increase—from $4.00 to $4.50 per hour—took effect on 1 August 2024, with employers given a six-month transition period to prepare for the next adjustment.
The Ministry of Employment, Productivity, and Workplace Relations confirmed that the decision follows extensive consultations with stakeholders and social partners. Minister Agni Deo Singh reiterated the Coalition Government’s commitment to ensuring fair wages for workers, stating that periodic reviews will continue.
The ministry will also strengthen enforcement and compliance efforts to ensure that all employers adhere to the new wage rate.
