Fiji Rugby Union Board of Directors has made the decision to terminate the appointment of Laijipa Naulivou as Director of Rugby.

While she had tendered her resignation, the Board determined that a firm stance was necessary to reinforce its commitment to upholding professional standards and safeguarding the integrity of Fiji Rugby.

In a statement released by Fiji Rugby Union, it states that they categorically rejects any form of discrimination.

The statement goes on to say that the views expressed by Laijipa Naulivou are her personal opinions and do not reflect the official position of FRU.

They add that Fiji Rugby Union remains steadfast in ensuring a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment for all the Fiji Rugby Vuvale, regardless of gender, background, or identities.

As the governing body for rugby operations under the Fiji Rugby Football Union Trust, FRU adheres to World Rugby’s principles of strong governance, ethical leadership, and fair competition.

FRU adds that their primary responsibility remains the development of rugby at all levels—from grassroots to the elite stage—while ensuring that all decisions reflect the best interests of the sport in Fiji.
