Sugarcane farmers now have the opportunity to renew their farmland lease with breeze, thanks to a new agreement signed by the Minister for Sugar Charan Jeath Singh over the weekend.

The New Farmers Lease Renewal Program aims to address challenges faced by sugar cane farmers in terms of acquiring and securing their farmland.

Government has signed a total of $2 million, as part of the New Farmers Lease Renewal Program to assist sugar cane farmers.

Line Minister Charan Jeath Singh says this also caters for new farmers.

Singh says, the ministry has provided many incentives to better accommodate the interests of the farmers.

One of which is providing subsidies for weedicides.

Of the 95 farmers to be assisted under the program, 7 are from the West, and 88 farmers are from the Northern division.
