According to reports from the region, the ceasefire appears to have been prompted by growing apprehension among the tribes, particularly due to the presence of defense personnel.

Prior to the reconciliation meeting, there were reports of mercenaries stockpiling ammunition in anticipation of further retaliation clashes.

In North Chimbu, entire villages have been obliterated by massive landslides, with reports of a tragic incident where an entire family perished as their home was swept away.

Relief efforts are being severely hampered by treacherous conditions, as landslips obstruct access routes, leaving affected communities largely isolated and struggling to cope.
