Four police officers charged in relation to an alleged assault case during a drug raid have been further remanded in custody.
Jekope Nakula, Maciu Tuira, Tokoni Nemia and Unaisi Leka appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele this afternoon.
It is alleged the four officers assaulted a victim during a drug raid at Wailea Settlement in March 2024.
The case was reported by the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission on behalf of the victim.
The accused officers have each been charged with one count of Acts Intended to Cause Grievous Harm contrary to Section 255(a), read with Sections 45 and 46 of the Crimes Act 2009.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Fiji Police Force said it remains committed to upholding the integrity of the policing profession through investigations to verify allegations made against police officers.
The matter has been adjourned to next Thursday for a bail hearing.
