President Katonivere encourages students to learn of Ratu Sukuna’s contribution to Fiji

His Excellency, President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere attended the Ratu Sukuna Day celebrations held at the Ratu Sukuna Memorial School in Nabua yesterday.

Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, Assistant Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ratu Isikeli Tuiwailevu, Assistant Minister for Education, Honourable Iliesa Vanawalu, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at iTaukei Affairs Board Apakuki Kurusiga and Acting permanent secretary for Education Timoci Bure were also present.

President Katonivere reminded the students and teachers of the importance of having knowledge of Ratu Sukuna’s contribution and what he has done for the country, for being a statesman and being a true and courageous Fijian.

President Katonivere spoke to students on the importance of discipline and adhering to instructions whether at home or school as being key to success.

He also highlighted to the students and the staff members that one of the issues discussed at the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) was to upgrade the school and ensure that they provide better educational opportunities for all Fijians.

As part of the week-long celebrations, students were able to learn more about Fiji’s statesman and the importance of the event.

Students from across the central division visited the educational booths that displayed information on the late Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna’s life, achievements, and sacrifices that he made for Fiji.
