The Prime Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Rabuka is set to advance his vision of the Blue Pacific region as an “Ocean of Peace” when meeting U.S. congress members, prominent leaders and business figures at the National Presidential Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., this week.
The Ocean of Peace concept was introduced by the Prime Minister during his national address at the UN General Assembly in 2023.
Since his first event in 1992, Rabuka has remained a committed participant.
He believes that the event will not only promote camaraderie and conversations about good administration, but also offer a chance to network and restate the values of democratic stewardship.
The Prime Minister also highlights the need for everyone to remain a region of peace that fosters regional cooperation by transcending the diversity of cultures and geography within the Blue Pacific region as this signifies the “Pacific Way” and recognizes the right of the people to peace, at the same time.
The Prime Minister aims to adopt and declare this concept at the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in the Solomon Islands later this year.
