The Minister for Sports, Jese Saukuru, has expressed confidence in the 2026 National Budget allocation to his ministry, describing it as sufficient to meet key priorities.
The Ministry of Sports has been allocated $23.1 million, a slight decrease from the $23.4 million received in the 2025/2026 financial year.
Despite the reduction, Saukuru says the funding will adequately support the ministry’s programmes and ongoing initiatives.
He emphasizes the importance of working within the available resources, noting that this is a crucial time to continue investing in sports and supporting local athletes.
Saukuru adds that the ministry remains focused on strengthening the foundation of sports development, with the aim of ensuring long-term growth and creating more opportunities for athletes across Fiji.
