Former Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) Chief Executive Officer Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Chief Financial Officer Vimlesh Sagar pleaded not guilty in the Suva Magistrates Court on 1st April 2025.
Appearing before Resident Magistrate Krishan Prasad, Sayed-Khaiyum is facing:
One count of Abuse of Office for Gain – for allegedly initiating five legal proceedings on behalf of FBC without board approval between July 1, 2017, and January 31, 2023.
An alternative charge of General Dishonesty – Causing a Loss – amounting to $138,813.37.
Meanwhile, Sagar is charged with:
One count of General Dishonesty – Causing a Loss – amounting to $15,075.88, for allegedly approving payments related to these legal proceedings without board approval.

Sayed-Khaiyum is represented by Devanesh Sharma and Gul Fatima.
Sagar is represented by Ritesh Singh.
Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Senior State Counsel Arieta Vaganalau appeared for the prosecution.
The case has been adjourned to April 17, 2025, for mention.
