In Fiji:
The Police boxing team won seven of the 11 fights on the opening day of the Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition at the LICI Court in Suva on Tuesday.
National Amateur Boxing rep Jone Davule, who captains the Police side in this competition led by example winning his opening fight beating Army’s Pita Nasowaqa on points.
Petero Vunivalu won in the lightweight division when he beat Army’s Ratu Kelevi Mawi.
Meanwhile, Army’s Samuela Naqari beat Jone Tuitabu in the 80 to 86kg category.
There were also wins for Rusiate Qalo, Noa Yabakidrau, and Meli Nailumu of the Army team.
The boxing competition continues today with the finals.
