Taras Supermarket has officially been announced as the major sponsor of the 2025 Tailevu Rugby Union 10s Tournament Championship.

The sponsorship package, totaling $3,000—comprising $2,500 in cash and $500 in-kind support, was formally handed over at a ceremony held in Nausori.

The event marked a milestone moment for both Taras Supermarket and the Tailevu Rugby Union, reaffirming a shared commitment to grassroots sports and community development across the province.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Amish Patel, Managing Director of Taras Supermarket, expressed deep pride in supporting the Tailevu rugby community.

“It is an immense honor to be here this evening, reaffirming our continued sponsorship of Tailevu Rugby Union,” Mr. Patel said.

“Rugby in Tailevu is not just a sport, it is an identity, a unifier, and a force for development. This 10s Tournament is more than a competition; it is a movement rooted in inclusivity, culture, and community.”

Taras Supermarket has been a cornerstone of the Nausori and wider Tailevu community for over four decades.

Patel emphasized that their involvement with the tournament is more than a business decision, it is an investment in people and in the power of sport to transform lives.

The newly elected President of Tailevu Rugby Union, Joseph Rodan Snr, delivered the vote of thanks, outlining the Union’s future plans under its new leadership.

“We have compiled our 2025–2030 Business Plan, and all our subcommittees are aligned to a common vision and goal, sustainable development of grassroots rugby and the Union as a whole,” said Rodan.

“Your investment reflects a shared belief in community development through sport,” he added.

He also assured sponsors that their contributions would be recognized across the Union’s official communications platforms, reinforcing the value of their support both in the community and in visibility for their businesses.

The ceremony also acknowledged co-sponsors Hussain Tabaraki Bread Shop, Glamada Investments, Be Pro Marketing, Veivueti Taxi, and Nausori Meats, for their collective contributions to the tournament’s success.

Chairman of the Tailevu Rugby Union Club Games Competition, Malakai Yamaivava, closed the event by highlighting how this sponsorship aligns with the Union’s broader goals.

“We sincerely thank Taras Supermarket for its unwavering support to the Vanua o Tailevu,” Yamaivava said.

“This partnership reflects our shared values and brings our 2025–2030 Business Plan to life.”
