Dravuni Island off Kadavu was a buzz of activities on Saturday, after tourists flocked to the island to enjoy the tranquil environment, traditional experience, and Fijian hospitality.
It is one of the few villages in Fiji – where cruise ships come to dock for a day of fun and activities, ultimately boosting the island’s economy.
The local people says, Dravuni Island, is one of the luckiest island in Fiji, welcoming tourists and revenue, almost every months.
Dravuni Village is home to roughly around 200 people. Every month, when cruise ships arrive, the villagers offer them a Fijian experience.
For more than 10 years, the villagers have accustomed to welcoming visitors to their homes.
While the stay is always the ship’s final port before returning overseas, the villagers are in it for a great treat, with tourists spending every single one of their last Fijian currency.
The cruise ship industry is crucial for boosting small and medium sized enterprises or SMEs, and directly benefits the local Fijian community, especially in Dravuni Island.
