Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga, has been appointed to act as the Attorney-General.
The announcement was made by the Prime Minister’s Office today.
The acting appointment comes as the position of Attorney-General remains vacant following the dissmissal of Graham Leung by Rabuka.
Turaga will assume the responsibilities of the role in addition to his current portfolio as Minister for Justice.
The arrangement is temporary and will remain in effect until a substantive appointment is made.
Turaga, who initially held the position of Attorney General in 2022 before being dismissed in 2024, is now expected to oversee key legal and constitutional responsibilities under the Attorney-General’s mandate, ensuring continuity in the government’s legal and legislative affairs during the interim period.
