Two more immunity witnesses in the trial relating to the seizure of 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine in Legalega, Nadi, gave evidence in court this morning.

One was the former girlfriend of one of the accused persons, and the other was the owner of the house in Legalega.

The first immunity witness of the day told the court that one of the accused had taken her to the Legalega house three to four times, where the meth was allegedly stored.

She said the house was still under construction, with building materials scattered everywhere.

The witness testified that she saw containers wrapped in brown tape inside the house.

She confessed that during her last visit, she asked the accused what the containers held, and he told her it was methamphetamine.

She further stated that the day before the police raid, her then-partner took her to a house in Maqalevu, where he received a call informing him about the raid.

The witness told the court that her partner said Ratu Osea Levula, one of the accused, had called to warn him about the impending raid.

She added that they then went to Denarau to pick up some cash before heading to a bakery at Jetpoint in Nadi.

The witness testified that this was where police apprehended her ex-boyfriend.

Meanwhile, the owner of the house in Legalega told the court that Sakiusa Tuva, one of the accused, had wanted to rent his incomplete house.

The witness said the arrangement was that Tuva would not pay rent but would complete the house instead.

He stated that shortly before New Year’s Day in December 2023, at around 2am, Tuva arrived and asked for help moving a consignment from a carrier into the house.

The witness said he, along with a friend and Viliame Colowaliku, helped Tuva.

According to the witness, Tuva told them the contents were “tile glue” and said they needed to move it inside because it would be exposed if left outside.

The witness stated that one of the container lids was broken, and that was when he saw what appeared to be meth spilling out.

He said that when he asked Tuva about it, Tuva confirmed it was meth.

The witness told the court that when he left to go home that same morning, Colowaliku was the only one left in the house.

The case continues tomorrow in the Lautoka High Court.
